The Linux Source if the new source for all things Linux.

What is Linux?
It is a Unix-like operating system that runs on several platforms (PC, Mac, Amiga, Alpha amongst others). If you would like to know how Linux came to be, or are interested in its history click here. Linux is a very powerful operating system, and can compete with Windows 9x & NT, often on lower powered hardware. Many web servers and other company servers are now running Linux as their main operating system.

One of the best features of Linux is the fact that the source code (the 'program' itself before it gets compiled) is freely available. This means that if a bug is found, the many developers of Linux around the world can work on this bug and produce a fix or update within a short time (usually a few days). The same is true if a new feature is desired. If you have experience with C/C++, you can make 'fixes' to the operating system or add new features to it and release it to the world. There are tens of thousands of programmers that have worked on or are working on some aspect of Linux, it is because of this that Linux has the stability and features that it has today, and guarantees its future.

What does The Linux Source do?
We sell most of the major distributions of Linux in GPL form. If you are new to Linux and are unsure of which distribution to try, why not get our Linux Superpack, containing the major distributions of Linux along with a 3 CD archive of Linux software.

Above all, we want to help promote Linux among computer users around the world.

We plan to update this page as often as possible. To be advised of any product additions, or major changes, please click here.
